In continuation with 2017 predictions, one writer at Inman, Andrew Flachner, writes, 2017 is the year of the real estate broker.  He mentions that there have been threats and pessimism toward the broker-centric model.

Another useful article, What is a Real Estate Broker, breaks it down into duties of a broker working for sellers, a broker working with buyers, and a broker supervising agents.  The duties described include listing homes for sale on Multiple Listing Service (MLS), advise the home seller in preparing their home for listings and showings, assist in negotiations and coordinating the transaction process, etc.

Going back to the pessimism surrounding the broker-centric model of real estate, while there is pessimism and growing threats, brokers can, as Flachner writes, control their destiny by making the most of the opportunities ahead.
